Are these lids actually plastic-free?
Yes — 100% plastic-free. Made entirely from bagasse pulp (sugarcane fibre) with no plastic, no PLA coating, and no added PFAS. Unlike most "compostable" lids on the market, these contain zero plastic of any kind.
What's the difference between these and PLA lids?
PLA lids: Made from plant-based plastic. Only compostable in industrial facilities — won't break down in home compost or landfill.
Bagasse pulp lids: Made from sugarcane fibre. Certified home compostable (AS5810) — breaks down in your garden compost bin within 180 days.
Are these home compostable?
Yes — certified to AS5810 for home composting. They break down in typical home compost conditions within 180 days without leaving toxic residue. Also certified to EN13432 for industrial composting facilities.
What is PFAS and are these lids PFAS-free?
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are synthetic chemicals sometimes used in food packaging for grease resistance. They're called "forever chemicals" because they don't break down naturally. Our lids contain no added PFAS.
